Method
Build the base mix
- Add the caramel popcorn, pretzels, mixed nuts, corn Chex cereal, and chocolate chips to a large bowl and toss until evenly distributed.
- Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and keep it ready for spreading the mix.
Melt and drizzle
- Melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe container in short bursts, stirring between each, until fully smooth and pourable.
- If using, mix in orange food coloring until the melted white chocolate is the color you want.
- Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the bowl of mix, then toss gently so the drizzle coats everything lightly.
Set, finish, and store
- Spread the snack mix in an even layer on the parchment-lined sheet pan and let it set for 10 minutes at room temperature, until the drizzle looks dry and set.
- Break apart any clumps and fold in the candy corn and autumn M&Ms (or orange and yellow candy-coated chocolate) gently.
- Store the scarecrow crunch snack mix in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
Notes
For the best crunch, drizzle the white chocolate lightly and let it set fully before adding candy corn and candy-coated pieces. Keep it in an airtight container for up to 1 week at room temperature; freezing is not recommended because the candy coatings can soften. If you want a dairy-free option, use dairy-free white chocolate chips for the drizzle.
