Garlic
  • 6 garlic minced
Fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp fresh ginger grated
Chicken bone broth
  • 8 cup chicken bone broth
Ground turmeric
  • 2 tsp turmeric
Black pepper
  • 1 tsp black pepper activates curcumin
Thyme
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
Cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp cinnamon
Cayenne pepper
  • 0.25 tsp cayenne
Lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
Honey
  • 1 tbsp honey
Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Egg noodles or rice noodles
  • 8 oz egg noodles or rice noodles
Parsley and lemon for serving
  • 1 fresh parsley and lemon wedges for serving
Salt
  • 1 salt to taste

Equipment

  • 1 Dutch oven

Method

Simmer the chicken and turmeric broth
  1. In a Dutch oven, add chicken breast, chicken bone broth, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, ginger, turmeric, black pepper, dried thyme, cinnamon, and cayenne. Simmer uncovered at a gentle boil for 20-25 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the broth turns a vivid golden-yellow.
Shred and combine
  1. Remove the chicken from the pot and shred it, then return the shredded chicken to the Dutch oven. Stir until the soup looks evenly mixed, with the vegetables suspended in the golden broth.
Cook the noodles and finish
  1. Add egg noodles to the pot and cook for 6-8 minutes until tender. Keep the soup at a steady simmer so the noodles soften without turning mushy.
  2. Stir in lemon juice, honey, and apple cider vinegar, and simmer for 1-2 minutes to fully blend flavors. The broth should smell bright and look slightly more vibrant.
  3. Season with salt to taste, then serve hot with extra lemon and fresh parsley. The final bowl should have shredded chicken visible and flecks of parsley on top.

Notes

For best texture, shred the chicken while it’s still warm and keep the simmer gentle once the noodles go in. Store leftovers in the fridge up to 4 days; the soup with noodles is freezer-friendly for up to 2 months (texture may soften on thaw). For a lower-carb option, swap egg noodles for zucchini noodles or omit noodles entirely and add extra cooked carrots/celery for body.
